What to see
Salento is rich in history, art, culture and natural wonders, to be experienced all year round. Its southern Mediterranean climate means visitors can enjoy its sparkling seas from April to October. Yet this is a land that offers beauty all year round. Traces of the ancient Greek civilization abound: indeed, the Grecìa Salentina retains many Greek traditions and the old griko dialect is still spoken. Yet there are also Oriental influences, ancient dolmens and menhirs, the beautifully baroque city of Lecce. There’s much to see and do: a brief guide follows.
